Multi format video output

Video output varies according to client requirements but for most video libraries there is core predictability. The decisions processes will include

1. Which formats will be used for previews?
2. What mid-res formats will be sold online?
3. Will comps be available for editing?
4. Will comps be watermarked?
5. Will comps be charged for?
6. Will high resolution / immediate downloads be sold online?
7. Will tapes be shipped via courier / mail

Having made the display and sales decisions specific characteristics like resolution, frames per second, progressive/non progressive, bitrate and encoding format are defined and agreed. Output could be combinations of:

Flash previews 

One of the keys to volume sales is presenting the search results and preview clips effectively. Many editing companies automate the whole process - searching for viable clip and then displaying the first frame within the search.

As you will be aware it is very rare that the first frame will encapsulate the flavour of the whole clip; to increase your sales our creative directors select the identifying still image very carefully as a manual process. This will dramatically increase the chances of the customer playing and then buying the clip.
